AB We report a group of 13 cases of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease treated in the region of Parma (Italy) between 1975 and 1984. An extensive study did not point to any common source of infection. The clinical stereotypy and distinctive neuropathology in this temporo-spatially confined group of patients might be stressed, but the possibility of infection by a single strain of the CJD agent remains speculative.
